Judith Nyambura, popularly known by her stage name Avril, has proven to be amongst Kenya’s most loved female artistes receiving accolades for best female artist in various awards such as the Chaguo La Teeniez Awards and Teen Choice Awards. Avril is paired up with Nigeria’s Hip-Hop king M.I. on Coke Studio Africa Season III show.
Drum rolls and as soon as Avril and M.I come together on stage there is a wonderful R&B Hip-Hop mash up emanating a distinct African feel. The performance, which was backed up by their producer, Cobhams, and the house band of pianists, guitarists, trumpeter, drummer and the background vocalists with angelic voices, were the highlight of my day.
It’s also great to see Cobhams in action. His story is brilliant and inspiring. The fact that he is visually impaired has never been a limitation. Watching him in amazement and with every strike of his keyboard, is a challenged to do more with in life.
