BREAKING: Federal High Court dismisses Saraki's application to stop arrest, trial

04:05Unknown

A Federal High Court in Lagos has struck out Bukola Saraki’s bid to stop his arrest, prosecution and trial in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The embattled Senate President who is being tried for false asset declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal has tried to stall his trial before now but failed.

This would be the fourth court Saraki has run to since the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) commenced his arraignment for charges bordering on false declaration of assets.

An appeal court in Abuja had dismissed a similar petition last month and the supreme court has received a file from Saraki’s lawyers seeking to declare that the CCT cannot continue with the case; given all kinds of cited technicalities.

Saraki who served as two-term governor of Kwara state as a 13-count charge of corruption levelled against him.
