The Nigeria Football Federation have refuted media reports suggesting that the Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, is presently ill and would not be available to oversee the Home based Eagles take on Burkina Faso in the CHAN qualifiers this weekend.
Coach Oliseh had endured hectic times last week following the row that engulfed the national team camp. He was on hand to oversee high profile friendly games in Belgium; first against DR Congo and then Cameroon, which ended in a sweet 3-0 win for Nigeria.
It was reported that Oliseh had written the NFF to stay away from the weekend game in Port Harcourt in order to see his doctors in Belgium and address his health issues.
However, the NFF through its official handle on Wednesday said Coach Oliseh is by no means ill adding that he will be joining the home-based Eagles on Thursday.
“Coach @SundayOOliseh isn’t ill & hasn’t opted out of Saturday’s CHAN game. He joins the team Thursday”. The NFF wrote on its twitter handle.
Meanwhile, the NFF has also announced that the 2016 African Nations Championship final round, first leg qualifier between the Home–based Senior National Team, Super Eagles B, and the Etalons of Burkina Faso, will now take place on Saturday.
The NFF said the venue remains the Adokiye Amiesieamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, with kick–off scheduled for 4 p.m.
The highly anticipated clash in the Garden City was previously fixed for Sunday October 18 but will now be played 24 hours earlier.
Nigeria is seeking to be among the 16 African countries to compete in Rwanda.
After earlier misses, the country made her debut show in the 2014 edition in South Africa where the Eagles settled for Bronze.
