Seedings for Champions League group stages confirmed

Following the completion of the play-offs, the seeding for the Champions League group stage draw has been confirmed.

The champions of the top eight leagues in Europe make up Pot 1 and they include: Barcelona, along with Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, PSG, Benfica, Zenit, PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United are all in Pot 2, alongside Spanish clubs Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia. Leverkusen and FC Porto complete the pot.

The draws begin at 4.45pm on Thursday and teams from the same country cannot be drawn against each other.


Pot 1: Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Zenit St Petersburg, PSV Eindhoven

Pot 2: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, FC Porto, Arsenal, Manchester United, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester City

Pot 3: Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla, Lyon, Dynamo Kiev, Olympiakos, CSKA Moscow, Galatasaray, AS Roma

Pot 4: BATE Borisov, Borussia Monchengladbach, Vfl Wolfsburg, Dinamo Zagreb, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Gent, Malmo, FK Astana.


  • There are 32 clubs.
  • 22 qualified automatically.
  • Ten won through from the play-offs.
  • There are four seeding pots.
  • Pot 1 consists of the champions of the eight highest-ranked UEFA nations.
  • Teams placed in Pots 2–4 according to coefficient.
  • Each group will contain one team from each seeding pot.
  • No club can play a side from their association and no Russian team can play a club from Ukraine.
  • The draw also apples to the UEFA Champions League route of the UEFA Youth League.
  • The draw ceremony will include the vote for, and presentation of, the 2014/15 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award for which Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suárez are nominated, as well as the women's award.
