A 14-year-old female student of Government Science College, Iyin Ekiti  in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, who was declared missing  on Tuesday evening was yesterday found naked and unconscious.

Our correspondent gathered that the girl, a border in the school, informed her friends while they were reading at about 8.30pm, that she was feeling feverish. The source said after the complaint, the girl left the classroom for the hostel.

The source further stated that when the girl’s colleagues returned to the hostel around 9.30pm, she was nowhere to be found.

The state Commissioner for Education, Mr Kehinde Ojo, who confirmed the development, said the victim’s housemaster visited the hostel at night and inquired about the girl’s whereabouts when he discovered that she was not on her bed. Ojo added that when the girl’s friends narrated to him  what transpired between them in the classroom, the teacher immediately alerted other colleagues and  set up a search party to comb the surrounding of the school that night.

He said the girl was not found until the early hours of yesterday, at a remote section of  Femi Balogun Nursery and Primary School in Iyin Ekiti, by a retired principal and the school’s proprietor.

The commissioner said the case has been reported at the Iyin police station and that the girl has been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Ido  Ekiti for  treatment”.

Ojo, however, said preliminary medical investigation showed that the girl was neither raped nor hit with a hard object.

The state Police Public Relations Officer Mr Victor Babayemi confirmed the incident, adding that investigation into the matter has commenced.

 “We want to make sure that the girl is on her feet so that she can give us enough information to help our investigation. It may be a ritual or kidnap attack; we are not leaving anything to chance,” he said.
