Sad news in the sports universe as Tracy McGrady who last played for the San Antonio Spurs, has retired from the NBA.
On Monday, Aug. 26, NBA legend Tracy McGrady announced his retirement on ESPN. Tracy, a seven-time All-Star, last played with the San Antonio Spurs. He’ll certainly be missed on the court.
“It’s been 16 years playing the game I love. I’ve had a great run but it’s time for it to come to an end,” Tracy said on First Take.
Tracy, 34, retires with career averages of 19.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists a game, USA Today reports.
While Tracy retired from the NBA, he leaves the door open to play outside the organization.

Immediately following his announcement, sports stars took to Twitter to react to the sad news.
Magic Johnson tweeted, “Happy Retirement to one of the greatest scorers in NBA History, @Real_T_Mac!” While the Houston Rockets said, “Thanks for so many great memories @Real_T_Mac, including 13 in 35, one of the best moments in Toyota Center history.”
Khris Middleton added, “Respect to Tracy McGrady retiring. Definitely my favorite player growing up. He was a scoring machine.”
Tracy even took to Twitter, following his video announcement. He said, “Thank all of you who have supported me over 16 NBA seasons, 7 All-Stars, and countless exciting moments. Retiring from NBA. Stay tuned.”
