The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) on Tuesday assured Nigerians that it would make petroleum products available to all filling stations during the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo, Chairman, South-West Chapter of NUPENG, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) would work throughout the holiday period.
The Federal Government has declared Thursday, Aug. 8 and Friday, Aug. 9, respectively, as public holidays, to mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
Korodo said that the union was determined to ensure regular supply of petroleum products for Nigerians to have a hitch-free celebration.
``If this is the only sacrifice we have to make to ensure that the products are available during the celebration, we are ready.
``We have been assured by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that the products would be available in all depots.
``We will play our own part by getting the products to the filling stations,’’ he told NAN.
Korodo, however, advised motorists against panic buying, adding that there would be enough petroleum products for sale to the general public during the period. (NAN)
