Two middle-aged security men were almost burnt to death at Dutse, in Bwari Area Council following fuel explosion last Thursday.

A witness said that one of the victims, around 10pm, sensed that the fuel in the shop’s generator was about to be exhausted and went to refill it.

He however explained that instead of putting off the generator before pouring the fuel, the victim went ahead to refill it while the generator was still on.

According to him, the fuel suddenly sparked off fire and got the man severely burnt.

He said the victim, in that confused state and in an effort to rescue himself from the fire, threw the generator into the next room where his colleague was lying.

“The fire also affects the second guard in almost all parts of his body,” he disclosed.
He said it took the intervention of neighbours and customers to put off the fire, while the victims were immediately taken to the Kubwa General Hospital for medical attention.

At the hospital, the head of the Accident and Emergency Unit, Paul Olise, said the victims are currently in intensive care at the hospital’s male surgical ward, but are responding to treatment.
